Java Engineer - Wholesale Lending

About the role

As part of ING Hubs Philippines, an international community of engineers, you will join a team designing, building and supporting advanced business applications in the Wholesale Lending domain. The role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, influencing architecture and driving improvements while ensuring the reliability, security and scalability of mission-critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own and support critical applications across the Wholesale Lending landscape.
• Design, develop and enhance scalable Java-based solutions.
• Drive technical improvements, engineering best practices and team-wide initiatives.
• Balance feature delivery with platform stability, security and risk management.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and business stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
• Build and maintain secure, resilient, high-performing applications.
• Contribute hands-on through coding, testing and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering decisions.
• Experience collaborating with architects, engineers and business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to champion technical improvements.
• Strong focus on system stability, security and risk management.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Java (Java 8 or higher).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Solid understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Strong experience with relational databases (RDBMS).
• Knowledge of software design principles, patterns and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated delivery pipelines.
• Understanding of secure application design and coding practices.
