Freelance Video Editor (Remote)

About the role

A growing digital media company that creates short-form video and visual content with AI tools is looking for a freelance, remote Video Editor. The editor turns raw footage into polished long-form YouTube videos and engaging short-form clips, keeping the content pipeline moving with videos delivered on schedule and in a consistent style.

Key responsibilities

• Edit about two long-form YouTube videos per week from raw footage provided by the client
• Organize footage, assemble sequences and create polished videos based on reference content and creative direction
• Apply revisions and incorporate feedback to match the expected editing style
• Repurpose long-form footage into short-form clips for social media and trial reels, delivering about 20 hours of short-form editing per week alongside about 20 hours of long-form editing
• Match the editing style of provided YouTube references and review your own work for pacing, audio and visual consistency
• Manage revisions, organize project files and deliver on schedule, communicating proactively and joining team check-ins and video meetings with the camera on

Required profile

• Strong English comprehension to understand scripts, context and creative instructions
• Ability to work about 40 hours per week, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM US business hours, with reliable attendance and accountability
• Own computer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor or higher, and a quiet, dedicated workspace at home
• Internet speed of at least 40 Mbps, headset with noise-cancelling mic and webcam, and a backup computer and internet connection
• Willingness to learn the team's style and workflows

Required skills

• Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve, or similar professional video editing software
• Editing long-form YouTube content and creating short-form clips
• Pacing, cuts, transitions, audio cleanup, captions, text and music
• Reframing horizontal footage into vertical short-form clips and organized project files with version control and backups
