Financial Controller

About the role

A leading organisation in the travel sector is looking for a Financial Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting and control functions across multiple business units, working closely with finance and operational leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations for multiple business entities, ensuring accurate transaction recording.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and deliver timely financial reports to headquarters in Canada.
• Supervise accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations and cash‑management activities.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting packages for internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate consolidation of financial data across entities and currencies, ensuring consistency.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation and stronger financial controls.
• Support compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Lead internal and external audit activities, preparing documentation and addressing queries.
• Monitor cash‑flow forecasting and assist with working‑capital management.
• Coach and develop accounting team members, fostering best practices and continuous learning.

Required profile

• At least seven years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with three years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA preferred.
• Proven experience in month‑end close, account reconciliations, general ledger oversight and accounts payable management.
• Experience managing cash‑flow monitoring and implementing robust financial controls in complex organisations.
• Exposure to multi‑entity and multi‑currency environments, preferably within travel, shared services or BPO sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate internal and external audits efficiently.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using ERP platforms or other financial systems.
