Family Practitioner / General Practitioner

About the role

The Family Practitioner will join a modern clinic on Cortes Island to provide comprehensive primary care for the local community. The position offers flexible part‑time or full‑time arrangements in a culturally safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver longitudinal primary care and same‑day urgent access for residents.
• Conduct consultations, examinations, and minor medical procedures.
• Provide addictions medicine and primary reproductive health services.
• Manage chronic diseases with ongoing monitoring and follow‑up.
• Support emergency care in the clinic’s treatment space.
• Collaborate with nurses and community health partners.
• Engage with the Klahoose First Nations to ensure culturally appropriate care.
• Contribute to community health initiatives and education.

Required profile

• Medical degree and active licence to practice in British Columbia.
• Experience in family medicine or primary care.
• Willingness to work in a remote, island community.
• Commitment to culturally safe care for Indigenous populations.
• Flexibility to work part‑time or full‑time as needed.

• Recruitment incentive up to $20,000 (full‑time).
• Relocation reimbursement up to $15,000.
