Engineering Geologist – Dam & Tunnel Projects

About the role

The Engineering Geologist will lead geological investigations and supervision for major dam, reservoir, tunnel and underground infrastructure projects. You will work closely with design and construction teams to ensure geological conditions are accurately understood and managed.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate geological mapping, borehole logs and subsurface data.
• Assess rock mass quality, structural geology, faults, fractures and discontinuities.
• Develop geological models to support design and construction.
• Identify and evaluate geological hazards such as landslides, slope instability, erosion, seepage and seismic risk.
• Monitor changing ground conditions during construction and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Conduct geological inspections of excavations, tunnel faces, foundations and slopes.
• Coordinate findings with resident engineers, contractors and regulatory agencies.
• Prepare technical reports, assessment memoranda and maintain investigation databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in engineering geology.
• At least 5 years of experience on dams, hydropower, pumped storage, tunneling or major underground infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in construction supervision and large‑scale civil‑works geological investigations.
