Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer will lead the hotel’s Engineering and Maintenance team, ensuring that all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. This role combines hands‑on technical work with team leadership and coordination across departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily engineering and maintenance operations, managing service standards, equipment schedules and work plans.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance for guest rooms and public areas.
• Develop and enforce health, safety and environmental procedures for guests, staff and property.
• Liaise with government agencies to ensure statutory compliance.
• Prepare capital and repair‑and‑maintenance budgets for the Engineering department.
• Conduct daily inspections, lift emergency releases and diagnose mechanical equipment issues.
• Oversee renovation bidding, define project scope and supervise contractors.
• Implement energy‑conservation and emergency response programs.
• Monitor key performance indicators and drive improvements in productivity, quality and inventory.
• Manage recruitment, performance, training and disciplinary actions for the engineering team.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of building management and engineering systems.
• Degree or professional license in an engineering field.
• Experience with budgeting and basic accounting.
• Strong leadership, communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and with flexibility.
• Previous facilities‑management experience in a hotel or similar environment.
• Professional grooming standards.
• Accreditations such as LLDA, DENR, OSH, First Aid or Disaster Management are a plus.
