Design Engineer – Plating Tooling Specialist

About the role

As a Design Engineer – Plating Tooling Specialist, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced tooling solutions for precious‑metal plating processes. You will work closely with internal customers such as Quality, IE, Finance and Procurement to ensure tooling meets production, safety and cost‑efficiency targets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, install and condition tooling for gold‑based plating operations.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives by minimizing gold usage in new product introductions.
• Supervise documentation of mechanical drawings and maintain a controlled tooling inventory.
• Support EHS compliance within the plating department and apply TEOA continuous‑improvement tools.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex tooling challenges and validate performance through pilot runs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous‑improvement methodologies is a plus.

Required skills

• Pro‑E (Creo Parametric) and AutoCAD proficiency.
• Mechanical design and tooling development expertise.
• MS Office competency; SAP knowledge is an advantage.
