Construction Technician

About the role

The Construction Technician supports site preparation, technical inspections, and maintenance activities on construction projects. The role involves interpreting blueprints, ensuring safety compliance, and assisting skilled tradespeople to keep projects on schedule and within quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and manage job sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental safety regulations.
• Conduct site surveys, measure elevations, and verify material specifications using GPS or total stations.
• Review schematics and technical drawings to guide execution of construction tasks.
• Operate light and heavy equipment such as excavators and perform preventative maintenance on tools.
• Assist carpenters, electricians, and masons, and document progress through regular reports.
• Perform quality control tests, including air and slump tests on concrete, to meet project standards.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in construction.
• Graduate of Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering is an advantage.
• Possession of COSH and BOSH certificates is a plus.
• Strong focus on safety and health on site.

Required skills

• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of construction materials, building codes, and safety protocols.
• Basic computer skills for documentation, including CAD/AutoCAD.
• Experience operating GPS/total stations and excavators.
• Ability to conduct concrete testing (air/slump) and perform equipment maintenance.
