Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel – FinTech Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel with a strong FinTech background to lead regulatory compliance and legal frameworks for our lending and FinTech operations in the Philippines. The role will ensure alignment with local laws while supporting strategic business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents such as corporate contracts, loan agreements, and data privacy policies.
• Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution to mitigate corporate liability.
• Provide proactive legal counsel to management on strategic initiatives.
• Ensure strict adherence to regulations from BSP, AMLC, SEC, and NPC.
• Develop, implement, and update internal compliance policies for lending operations.
• Act as primary contact during regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries.
• Secure, maintain, and renew corporate licenses and monitor policy updates.
• Establish and oversee AML and KYC frameworks, including CDD and EDD for high‑risk profiles.
• Monitor suspicious activities and file regulatory reports such as STR and CTR.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or J.D.), Finance, or Compliance; Philippine Bar Passer preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of legal practice in the Philippines.
• At least 2 years of experience in FinTech, lending, or digital banking.
• Full professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of BSP Circulars, AMLC Rules, and NPC Data Privacy Act.
• Hands‑on experience with AML/KYC procedures and complex contract drafting.
• Strong risk assessment and problem‑solving capabilities.
