Communications Support Officer

About the role

The Communications Support Officer will develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of health issues, support WHO’s corporate communication, and coordinate media and stakeholder engagement in the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and support communication strategies and plans in coordination with WHO, DOH, HPB and other partners.
• Identify success stories and produce advocacy products for partnerships and resource mobilization.
• Manage outreach through WHO website, traditional and social media, and organize events and media briefings.
• Maintain networks with media and national communication counterparts for optimal coverage.
• Monitor media and social media, track perceptions, and propose risk‑mitigation communications.
• Support emergency risk communications, social mobilization and community engagement during crises.
• Provide communication training for WHO staff and support internal communications.

Required profile

• University degree in communication, journalism, public health, political science, international relations or related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience delivering communication strategies at national level.
• Knowledge of linguistic, social and cultural norms of the Philippines.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of English and the local language.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web content management systems, graphic design and video production software.
• Experience with social listening and social media analytics tools.
