Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager will lead MGEN’s Investments Group in identifying and originating new power generation projects and strategic partnerships. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the role oversees the full business development lifecycle to build a robust pipeline that supports MGEN’s growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute MGEN’s business development strategy for power generation, renewables, energy storage and hydrogen.
• Identify, evaluate and originate greenfield and brownfield power projects and partnership opportunities.
• Conduct market research, feasibility studies and preliminary due diligence covering technical, commercial, environmental and regulatory aspects.
• Engage with government agencies, regulators, energy players, developers and local communities to build relationships and represent MGEN in industry forums.
• Lead early‑stage project development, including concept definition, site identification and preliminary assessments.
• Collaborate with Legal, Technical, Finance and Land Acquisition teams to structure projects and secure agreements such as MOUs and joint development contracts.
• Maintain and track a pipeline of potential projects, ensuring timely progression to detailed development or M&A execution.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Business Development team, fostering strategic thinking and proactive opportunity identification.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in business development within the power or energy sector.
• Strong understanding of power market dynamics, regulatory frameworks and emerging energy technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and negotiate agreements.
• Experience guiding projects from origination through to hand‑over for detailed development.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
