Backend Engineer – Java & Spring Developer

About the role

Join ING Retail Tech PH as a Backend Engineer, working within a cross‑functional squad to build reliable, secure backend services using modern Java and Spring technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliable backend applications.
• Write automated tests and ensure test coverage.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Adopt DevOps and Agile practices.
• Collaborate with product, design and other engineers to define and design features.
• Integrate security best practices throughout development.
• Mentor team members and participate in technical interviews.
• Continuously learn emerging technologies and industry trends.

Required profile

• Proven experience building backend solutions with RESTful APIs, databases and messaging services.
• Strong fundamentals in OOP, functional programming, design patterns, concurrency and test‑driven development.
• Experience working in Agile, multicultural teams and adapting to fast‑changing environments.
• Willingness to learn cloud platforms, microservices architecture and IT risk management.
