Associate Legal Counsel

About the role

Our client, a leading digital payments and financial services provider operating across Southeast Asia and expanding into Latin America, is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel. The role supports the business with commercial, corporate and regulatory legal advice, helping to launch new products while ensuring compliance with fintech and data‑privacy laws.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on commercial, corporate and regulatory matters across the organization.
• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on technology, vendor, partnership, marketing and service agreements.
• Guide business units on legal and regulatory requirements related to digital payments, fintech, banking and data privacy.
• Identify legal risks for new product launches and deliver practical, business‑oriented solutions.
• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and communicate timely guidance.
• Assist in managing disputes, investigations and interactions with regulators and external counsel.
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, product, finance and operations teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in corporate projects, strategic partnerships and regional initiatives.
• Contribute to the improvement of legal processes, templates and governance frameworks.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in the Philippines.
• 3–6 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably in a reputable law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, technology or e‑commerce is an advantage.
• Strong drafting and negotiation abilities for complex commercial agreements.
• Sound understanding of financial services and digital product regulatory and compliance matters.
• Commercially minded with a solution‑oriented approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.
