Assistant Professor – Leadership and Administration

About the role
The School of Information at San José State University seeks an Assistant Professor to lead the Leadership and Administration cluster for its fully online Master’s program in Library and Information Science, beginning August 2025. The role combines course coordination, teaching, and scholarly research while supporting a diverse, remote student body.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as core course coordinator for the Leadership and Administration cluster and teach INFO 204 – Information Professions.
- Ensure course learning outcomes are consistent across all sections and aligned with program goals.
- Organize and manage classes within the Canvas Learning Management System.
- Conduct research in areas such as advocacy metrics, decision‑making, or management of globally distributed information teams.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and contribute to shared governance.
- Engage with professional organizations at the state, national, and international level.
Required profile
- Earned doctorate completed by the start date.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly and professional achievement.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to work with a socially and economically diverse student body.
Required skills
- Experience teaching fully online courses.
- Proficiency with Canvas LMS for course delivery and management.
