API Management Lead

About the role

The API Management Lead is the top technical authority for API architecture across the enterprise. You will define the vision, standards and governance that ensure a secure, scalable and future‑proof API landscape aligned with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise API architecture blueprint, design standards, style guides and guardrails for internal, partner and public‑facing APIs.
• Lead the API Architecture Review Board, govern design approvals and drive portfolio decisions (build vs. buy vs. integrate).
• Design integration architecture, API gateway strategy, middleware patterns and event‑driven standards (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, AsyncAPI).
• Apply security‑by‑design principles, implement zero‑trust API security (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS, JWT) and ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR, PSD2, HIPAA).
• Provide architectural oversight for API‑driven platform implementations, digital transformation projects and support RFP/RFI processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years of software development, systems integration or API development experience.
• 3–5 years in an architecture role (Solution Architect, API Architect, etc.).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• API technologies: REST, GraphQL, gRPC, AsyncAPI, microservices.
• API management platforms and integration tools.
• Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud.
• Security standards: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS.
• Enterprise integration design, service mesh, CI/CD, testing, observability, developer portals.
