Accountant – Remote (Australian Business Focus)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join Outsourcey’s remote team, supporting Australian‑based businesses. You will manage end‑to‑end bookkeeping, payroll and statutory reporting across multiple entities while providing strategic financial insights.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle bookkeeping for 4–5 companies using Xero, including ledgers, journals, reconciliations and month‑end close.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries.
• Conduct monthly budget variance analysis and deliver management reports with actionable recommendations.
• Process payroll in compliance with Australian legislation (superannuation, PAYG, leave entitlements).
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, payroll tax and other statutory filings.
• Support tax planning by maintaining accurate records and assisting with compliance.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations across all entities.
• Advise leadership on budgeting, cost reduction, pricing, investments and major financial decisions.
• Provide forecasts, financial insights and risk monitoring to guide strategic planning.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Accountant supporting Australian businesses.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation, BAS, GST, PAYG and payroll compliance.
• Advanced proficiency in Xero, handling multiple entities.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, consolidations and elimination journals.
• Proven ability to prepare budget variance analysis and management reports.
• High level of accuracy, organization and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
