Transport Safety Officer

About the role

The Transport Safety Officer will lead the implementation and sustainment of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) programs for Unioil’s fuel transport operations. Reporting to the Road Transport Supervisor, this hands‑on field position works directly at hauler terminals, loading depots, and customer delivery points to improve safety performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and build strong partnerships with hauling contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and release Journey Management Plans (JMPs) for road transport site inspections, coordinating with sales and field operations.
• Conduct scheduled and unannounced inspections at hauler terminals, depots, and delivery sites to verify safety standards and identify risks.
• Maintain logs of JMPs, inspection findings, and corrective actions for audit and reporting.
• Monitor driver fatigue management, collect and validate fatigue logs, and submit them to HSSE within deadlines.
• Review and approve or reject driver working‑hours extension requests, ensuring safe operating limits.
• Facilitate toolbox meetings, develop safety talk content, and recognize strong safety behavior.
• Plan and execute quarterly emergency response drills and monthly tabletop exercises.
• Manage regulatory compliance and accreditation activities for the transport fleet.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in field safety oversight for transport or logistics operations.
• Ability to work directly with drivers, contractors, and hauler terminals.
• Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations and fatigue‑management practices.
• Proactive approach to identifying safety risks and escalating concerns.
