Tax Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Tax Specialist to lead the tax affairs of our subsidiaries and business units. The role involves strategic tax planning, compliance, transaction tax and risk management to ensure tax obligations are met while optimizing tax savings.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee tax strategy, planning, compliance and risk management for all subsidiaries and business units.
• Manage national and local tax obligations, aiming to minimize payments and maximize savings within legal frameworks.
• Design and execute periodic tax review programs to improve compliance and identify savings opportunities.
• Advise on tax implications of major business initiatives, including due diligence, financial modeling, structuring and contract reviews.
• Respond to tax‑related inquiries and monitor new tax legislation, providing guidance for implementation.
• Supervise BIR and LGU audit processes, preparing protest letters and recommending corrective actions.
• Collaborate with finance, legal and external counsel on tax litigation and refund claims.
• Maintain a monthly tax calendar and develop a compliance monitoring system for the organization.
• Recommend process improvements, policies and guidelines to enhance the tax function.

Required profile

• Certified Public Accountant and/or tax lawyer.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in tax strategy, planning, compliance and risk management.
• Experience managing tax affairs across multiple industries such as energy, construction, services, telecommunications or fintech.
• Strong analytical and risk‑management capabilities.
