Tax Manager (U.S. and Canada)

About the role

Horizon Partners Consultancy Corporation is seeking a full‑time Tax Manager to lead its U.S. and Canadian individual tax and accounting operations. The role involves preparing complex tax returns, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with both jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review U.S. and Canadian individual income tax returns, including complex engagements.
• Sign off on returns to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct technical tax research and provide guidance on filing requirements.
• Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and clarify tax matters.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate tax associates, ensuring quality control standards.
• Coordinate workflow, monitor deadlines, and manage busy‑season schedules.
• Develop and improve internal processes for operational efficiency.
• Stay current on changes in U.S. and Canadian tax laws and support tax planning projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience preparing U.S. and/or Canadian individual tax returns.
• Proven experience supervising and training tax or accounting staff.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Excellent time‑management and organizational abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with the capacity to handle multiple deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CCH tax software (preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong ability to work with PDF documents.
