Tax Accountant – Public Practice Experience (Remote, WFH)

About the role

ConnectOS is seeking a Tax Accountant with solid experience in Australian public practice. The role is fully remote, supporting a diverse portfolio of sole traders, companies, trusts and self‑managed super funds (SMSFs) while ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge individual and business income tax returns.
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns.
• Draft financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Perform routine bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Support corporate secretarial duties such as annual statements, share transfers and director changes using corporate‑registry software.
• Administer SMSFs, maintaining records with dedicated SMSF software.
• Provide daily admin support in Xero, assisting the principal partner with ad‑hoc accounting tasks.
• Communicate with clients to gather information, answer queries and meet compliance deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in an Australian‑based public practice accounting firm.
• Hands‑on experience with tax returns for sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs.
• Familiarity with BAS, IAS and financial statement preparation.
