Systems Administrator

About the role

The Systems Administrator will ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of SMRI's IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. This role supports internal teams and acts as the primary liaison with IT Shared Services for infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain servers, operating systems, and hardware on VMware, Sangfor, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Huawei platforms.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot OS, server applications, and hardware to achieve optimal performance.
• Monitor system health, perform capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization.
• Execute regular updates, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Design, implement, and test backup and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Coordinate system integration across heterogeneous platforms.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar scripting languages.
• Provide tier‑2 support to internal teams and end‑users, documenting configurations and troubleshooting steps.
• Collaborate with IT Shared Services to design and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on systems administration experience.
• Strong expertise in both Windows and Linux server environments.
• Proven experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V, Sangfor) and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, Huawei).
• Familiarity with automation/configuration tools such as Ansible or Chef.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Prometheus) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VPN, and routing.
• Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Linux, AWS) are a plus.
