Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Inchcape Digital is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape technical strategy and architecture across multiple products and engineering teams. This senior individual‑contributor role focuses on large‑scale systems, influencing technical direction, and delivering business outcomes through technology.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve architecture and technical direction across systems and teams.
• Lead design of high‑impact, cross‑functional engineering initiatives.
• Drive key technical decisions balancing business value, speed, and system health.
• Identify and reduce systemic technical and operational risks.
• Serve as escalation point for critical or high‑risk technical issues.
• Build shared platforms, patterns, and capabilities to scale team productivity.
• Mentor engineers on system design, trade‑offs, and technical decision‑making.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders on strategy and roadmap execution.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience operating as a Staff Software Engineer, Principal Engineer, Software Architect, or Technical Lead.
• Demonstrated ownership of architecture across multiple teams, products, or domains.
• Strong experience designing and operating large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to influence engineering decisions across teams and stakeholders.
• Experience balancing technical excellence, delivery speed, and business priorities.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
