Software Development Engineer - Contractor

About the role

Gappify is seeking a Contract Software Development Engineer to provide engineering support, handle operational requests, and resolve production issues. The role combines backend development with strong operational discipline, working across QA, UAT, staging, and production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Execute database updates, data fixes, scripts and configuration changes in QA, UAT, Staging and Production.
• Investigate application behavior, system issues and data discrepancies reported by internal teams.
• Support production troubleshooting, log analysis and deployment activities.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and coordinate fixes for recurring problems.
• Maintain documentation for scripts, processes and operational changes.
• Assist release activities, monitoring and post‑deployment validation.
• Handle urgent operational and business‑critical requests as needed.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• Strong background in PHP development and working knowledge of Java.
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with APIs, backend services and system integrations.
• Comfortable troubleshooting production or environment issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
