SMSF Accountant – Australian Tax & Bookkeeping (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an intermediate accountant to join our Australian accounting team on a full‑time remote basis. You will work directly with senior partners, handling tax returns, BAS, SMSF administration and corporate secretarial tasks for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge individual and business income tax returns.
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns.
• Compile financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Perform routine bookkeeping – bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance and data entry.
• Support corporate secretarial work such as share transfers, director changes and annual statements using CAS or equivalent.
• Administer Self‑Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) using BGL software.
• Provide daily admin support in Xero and assist the principal partner with ad‑hoc tasks.
• Liaise with clients to gather information, answer queries and meet compliance deadlines.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience with Australian tax, BAS and bookkeeping.
• Familiarity with corporate secretarial processes or willingness to learn.
• Understanding of SMSF regulations or eagerness to develop this expertise.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational ability and good communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero bookkeeping software.
• Experience with BGL SMSF administration software.
• Knowledge of corporate‑registry software such as CAS.
