Senior Interior Designer (Remote, Philippines)

About the role

Hunt St, which helps Australian companies hire remote talent in the Philippines, is recruiting a Senior Interior Designer for a Sydney-based boutique interior design studio specialising in workplace and education projects. The role is fully remote, paid AUD 1,500-2,000 per month under an independent contractor agreement, starting part-time at about 3 days per week (24 hours) with flexibility, and requires occasional collaboration during Australian business hours.

You will work closely with the Director on design development, documentation and project delivery, turning client briefs, concepts, sketches and mark-ups into accurate, construction-ready drawings. The Director keeps responsibility for client relationships, presentations and overall design direction.

Key responsibilities

• Work across workplace and education commercial interior projects, developing designs from concept through detailed design, tender and construction documentation.
• Produce space plans, test fits, site plans, reflected ceiling plans, furniture and finishes plans, elevations, joinery details, ceiling and floor threshold details, partition and stair details, and more, to company drafting and CAD standards.
• Prepare finishes, furniture, door and equipment schedules.
• Develop 3D models and visualisations in SketchUp where required, and assist with design development and presentation documentation in InDesign.
• Coordinate with other specialists, incorporate their mark-ups and changes, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage project tasks and deliverables to agreed deadlines, and as the business grows, oversee and review the work of other team members.

Required profile

• 8-10+ years of professional experience in commercial interior design, with strong experience in workplace and education projects.
• Portfolio of high-quality commercial interior projects.
• Ability to develop complete documentation packages independently from sketches, mark-ups, briefs or verbal direction.
• Understanding of Australian building and accessibility requirements, including NCC/BCA and DDA.
• Strong written and verbal English, and a proactive, reliable approach to deadlines and confidentiality.

Required skills

• AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT and SketchUp or equivalent 3D modelling software.
• Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop.
• Tender and construction documentation.
• High-speed internet and a workstation capable of handling large CAD and 3D files.
