Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

ING Retail Tech PH is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a cross-functional team that works with the latest technologies to innovate and develop solutions. The engineer reports to a Team Lead, who guides their professional development. The position is based in Manila.

Required profile

• Proven track record of building backend solutions, including RESTful APIs, database interfaces and messaging service integration
• Strong software development fundamentals: OOP, functional programming, design patterns, concurrency and TDD
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation
• Experience in Agile, teamwork and adapting to a multicultural environment
• Willingness to learn cloud technologies, microservices architecture and IT risk

Required skills

• Java 8 or higher (Java 11 or higher preferred)
• Spring and Spring Boot
• Code versioning tools, preferably Git
• Test automation (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
• RESTful API development
• Good communication
• Nice to have: SQL, JPA, Hibernate; microservices, containerization and orchestration; CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps and Maven
