Resident Mechanical Engineer – Hydropower & Pumped Storage

About the role

Surbanajurong is seeking a Resident Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering activities on hydropower and pumped‑storage projects. The role involves on‑site supervision, technical coordination and ensuring compliance with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction and installation of turbines, valves and hydromechanical systems.
• Review and approve technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Coordinate commissioning activities for hydropower plants.
• Manage interface with multidisciplinary and multinational teams.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality and environmental requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (minimum) and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PRC or equivalent) with 10–15 years of experience in dams, hydropower or pumped‑storage projects.
• Proven experience in construction supervision or Owner’s Engineer roles on large infrastructure or power projects.
• International project exposure and ability to work with multinational teams.

Required skills

• Mechanical Engineering expertise.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification.
• Construction Safety training.
• Hydropower and pumped‑storage system knowledge.
• Experience with turbines, valves and hydromechanical systems.
• Commissioning of hydropower plants.
• BIM and digital engineering tools.
• FIDIC contract management.
• Familiarity with ISO, IEC and ASME standards.
• Technical drawing and specification review.
