Packaging Development Specialist

About the role

The Packaging Development Specialist designs, evaluates and implements food packaging solutions that ensure product safety, quality, shelf‑life, cost efficiency, consumer appeal and sustainability. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams such as Product Development, Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Production, Quality Assurance and external suppliers to deliver compliant and innovative packaging.

Key responsibilities

• Design and recommend packaging solutions for new and existing food products, incorporating sustainable and consumer‑friendly options.
• Evaluate packaging materials, costs, formats and regulatory compliance, identifying savings without compromising quality.
• Plan, coordinate and conduct packaging trials, line tests, compatibility studies and shelf‑life stability testing.
• Assess packaging performance including barrier properties, seal integrity and transport durability.
• Collaborate with product owners, operations, marketing and suppliers to ensure line efficiency, brand alignment and material sourcing.
• Maintain regulatory compliance documentation, ISO‑related records and support audits.
• Create and update packaging material master data and BOMs in SAP for accurate cost tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Food Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in packaging development, R&D or a related function, preferably within FMCG.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
