Medical Director (Oncology/Hematology)

About the role

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation. As Medical Director (Oncology/Hematology), you will drive medical initiatives within project teams, guide strategic direction and decision-making, and give expert medical and scientific guidance to inform project development. You will lead medical affairs delivery across your portfolio, set standards and develop your team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
• Offer expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
• Represent the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives.
• Provide operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Oncology or Hematology.
• At least 7 years of clinical practice in Oncology or Hematology (Board Certified Oncologist or Hematologist), or extensive experience in Oncology/Hematology clinical research (Investigator, Sub-investigator, Medical Monitor, Safety Physician, etc.).
• Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.
• Demonstrated ability to provide operational management in the absence of senior management.
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts.
• Legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
