Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics

About the role

RB Labs, a Switzerland‑based AI and robotics company, is looking for a senior Mechanical Design Engineer to create the hardware for next‑generation robotic platforms. The position is fully remote and offers the chance to work with cross‑functional teams on cutting‑edge automation technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete robotic systems from concept through production.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Create mechanisms for motion, actuation, structural support, and enclosures.
• Perform tolerance analysis, design validation, and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
• Collaborate with robotics, AI, electrical, and software engineers to integrate systems.
• Support prototyping, testing, debugging, and iterative design improvements.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure high‑quality, production‑ready designs.
• Optimize designs for performance, reliability, weight, manufacturability, and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or robotics hardware engineering.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong experience with AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and 3D printing.
• Experience with tolerance analysis and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) practices.
