Job description

About the role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Lead Power Electronics Engineer to drive the design, development, and optimisation of cutting‑edge power electronics solutions across a range of innovative products. You will own the full development lifecycle, from concept through to mass‑production support, ensuring efficiency, reliability and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the entire power electronics development lifecycle, from concept and specification through design, simulation, prototyping, testing and mass‑production support.
  • Architect and design power conversion systems (e.g., AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters) focusing on efficiency, power density, reliability and cost.
  • Conduct detailed circuit analysis, component selection and worst‑case analysis to ensure robust, compliant designs.
  • Perform power loss calculations, thermal analysis and implement appropriate cooling solutions.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, performance, reliability and compliance testing.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware and industrial design engineers to integrate power electronics into overall product architecture.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior power electronics engineers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, resources and deliverables for power electronics initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development process.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in power electronics design and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior engineering role.
  • Proven expertise in designing various power‑converter topologies (flyback, buck, boost, LLC, resonant converters, PFC).
  • Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, GaN, SiC) and their applications.
  • Proficiency with power‑electronics simulation tools such as SPICE, PSIM, PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Hands‑on experience using PCB design tools like Altium Designer, Eagle and KiCad.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed thermal‑management and electromagnetic‑compatibility (EMC) design considerations.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance standards (UL, CE, CCC).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
