Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Data Science

About the role

The Information School at the University of Sheffield is recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Data Science to strengthen its research and teaching portfolio. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching, developing a research programme and contributing to interdisciplinary collaborations.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in data science and related subjects.
• Develop and lead research projects, publish in reputable venues.
• Supervise student theses and doctoral candidates.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the school and across the university.
• Promote responsible data and AI practices, incorporating FATES principles into research and teaching.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related discipline.
• Developing research record for Lecturer level or established record for Senior Lecturer level.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and ability to design curricula.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary work and to the fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics, safety and security (FATES) agenda.
