Lead Operator/Maintainer – Naval Station Guantanamo Bay

About the role

The Lead Operator/Maintainer will supervise daily operations of the combined‑cycle power plant at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, ensuring safe, high‑quality production and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise all department staff, assign work, and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
• Support plant management in analyzing workflow, improving productivity and quality.
• Operate and monitor plant equipment remotely and locally, reading meters and recording data.
• Report unusual conditions or equipment damage to the Plant Manager.
• Start, stop, adjust, and modify equipment using operating procedures and technical manuals.
• Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for maintenance planning and work order execution.
• Inspect equipment visually and audibly to identify repair needs.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, including cleaning, adjusting, tightening, and water chemistry testing.
• Act as a “System Expert” for designated plant systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operating and maintaining combined‑cycle power plant equipment, especially steam and gas turbines.
• Ability to lead and supervise a technical team across multiple shifts.
• Strong adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
• Capability to analyze operational data and identify trends.
• Willingness to work under the direction of the Plant Manager.
