Junior Design Engineer – Hybrid (Manila)

About the role

Weir is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join its ESCO product team in Manila. The role is hybrid, with two days per week on‑site, and offers the chance to contribute to sustainable mining equipment such as excavator buckets, loaders and truck trays.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings in accordance with company standards.
• Prepare work instructions, documentation and ensure compliance with fabrication, engineering and welding specifications.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and assist senior engineers with simulation and finite‑element analysis preparation.
• Support fabrication teams by answering design queries and participate in design reviews.
• Continuously develop proficiency with engineering tools and identify simple improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Maximum of two years of relevant experience or recent graduate.
• Strong commitment to safety and zero‑harm behaviours.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of about ten members.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a 3D parametric CAD package – NX preferred.
• Familiarity with product lifecycle tools such as Agile PLM and Teamcenter.
• Basic knowledge of finite‑element analysis (FEA) concepts.
• Ability to produce engineering drawings and documentation that meet fabrication standards.
