About the role

The General Maintenance Worker – Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning Technician ensures that the hospital’s HVAC, refrigeration and ventilation systems operate safely and efficiently. This role supports a comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors while adhering to hospital standards and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on air‑conditioning units, refrigeration systems and ventilation equipment.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance and equipment inspections according to established schedules.
• Perform basic electrical and mechanical tasks such as replacing light fixtures, checking outlets, cleaning battery terminals and fixing minor water leaks.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Department and other hospital personnel to develop cost‑effective maintenance solutions.
• Assist in procuring tools, spare parts and supplies while maintaining inventory control.
• Document and implement the Preventive Maintenance Program for all assigned systems.
• Maintain tools and testing instruments in good condition, calibrated when required.
• Support housekeeping and infection‑prevention efforts by keeping work areas clean and orderly.
• Respond promptly to service requests and emergency repairs.

Required profile

• Experience working with refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC systems, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues and apply appropriate corrective measures.
• Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks.
• Commitment to safety, infection‑prevention protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Team‑oriented mindset, able to collaborate with engineering and hospital staff.
