About the role

The Legal Department Head will lead the bank’s legal function, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while representing the institution in legal matters. This senior position requires strategic oversight of litigation, contracts, and regulatory relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the bank before courts, quasi‑judicial bodies, and administrative agencies.
• Ensure compliance with banking laws, tax regulations, and industry standards.
• Provide legal advice on banking regulations, corporate governance, contracts, and litigation.
• Manage litigation and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and legal partners.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and legal agreements.
• Prepare pleadings, board resolutions, certifications, and other legal documents.
• Lead and manage the Legal Department, including planning, budgeting, and performance management.
• Supervise, coach, and develop department personnel.
• Stay updated on BSP, SEC, BIR, and other regulatory developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) and licensed attorney.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing legal requirements within the banking industry.
• Strong knowledge of banking laws, tax laws, and BSP, SEC, BIR regulations.
• Proven experience in litigation, legal compliance, and contract negotiation.
• Leadership and people‑management experience.
