Financial Report Translator

About the role

Fitch Ratings is looking for a translator in Davao, Philippines, to translate financial reports of banks, insurance and non-financial bank institutions, and international public finance companies, from their native language into English. The role is based in Davao.

Key responsibilities

• Produce at least two translations of native-language reports per day.
• Translate all necessary information so that no errors occur during the analysis stage.
• Check both non-financial and financial aspects of reports before translating, and verify that English terms follow the translation guidelines.
• Store translations in the Fitch database and local server, and keep a consolidated daily report of translated accounts for the Team Leader.
• Communicate with the Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader and Fitch on issues, and investigate queries and errors raised by Fitch.
• Handle extra tasks and special translation projects assigned by Fitch and Team Leaders.
• Read and write foreign characters such as Japanese, Korean and Chinese, and perform additional standard operating procedures after each account is translated.

Required profile

• At least college level education; a university degree is preferred.
• Learned a native language in a reputable school; a language certificate is not required but is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese or Bahasa, and the ability to read and write characters used in Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Indonesia, New Caledonia and French Polynesia.
• Excellent client-facing skills, strong communication and analytical abilities, and the ability to work in a small, dynamic local team within a larger matrix organization.
