Director, Cost Accounting

About the role

The Allegro team is seeking a Director of Cost Accounting to lead the function across all global entities. This senior position oversees inventory, product costing, fixed assets, patents and cost control systems while ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of strategic cost accounting initiatives, including systems transformation, process automation and analytics.
• Partner with Finance leadership to align cost accounting with company strategy, profitability goals and margin optimization.
• Oversee policy development for product costing, inventory valuation, standard costs and overhead absorption.
• Drive change management for new technologies and ERP upgrades, such as Oracle.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls and SOX requirements.
• Manage month‑end close processes, standard cost roll‑up in Oracle and transfer price calculations for all entities.
• Review variance analyses, develop cost projections for COGS and address raw‑material shortages on the shop floor.
• Mentor and develop cost accounting leaders, building a strong talent pipeline.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Accountancy; CPA designation is a plus.
• Minimum 12 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years of managerial experience.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory and variance analysis.
• Proven track record of leading strategic projects, system implementations and process improvements.
