Data Engineer (Project Based)

About the role

A growing window furnishings company that uses data to drive key decisions is hiring a Data Engineer for a project-based engagement in Makati City, on a hybrid basis. You will design, build and optimise data pipelines and the semantic layer so that teams have reliable, well-defined business metrics. You will work closely with software developers, analysts and business stakeholders to define core metrics, turn raw data into usable models and build a scalable analytics infrastructure with tools such as SQLMesh (or dbt) and Cube.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build robust data pipelines to ingest, transform and model data efficiently.
• Implement dbt for transformation workflows and data versioning.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and define clear KPIs.
• Optimise data models for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Ensure data governance and quality through testing, monitoring and documentation.
• Integrate data from multiple sources into the Redshift data warehouse.
• Improve query performance and enable real-time analytics where needed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or BI Engineering.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling (star/snowflake schema).
• Experience with data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and workflow orchestration (Airflow, Dagster).
• Strong understanding of data governance, testing and version control (CI/CD for data).
• Ability to work closely with business teams to define meaningful metrics, and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• dbt, SQLMesh or similar transformation frameworks
• Cube, LookML, MetricFlow or other semantic layer tools
• Nice to have: streaming data pipelines (Kafka, Flink), Python for data engineering, and visualisation tools (Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)

The project runs full-time for 3 to 6 months, Monday to Friday 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM, from the Trafalgar Bldg. Salcedo Village office in Makati City.
