Backend Engineer – Java & Spring

About the role

Join ING Retail Tech PH as a Backend Engineer and become part of a cross‑functional squad that builds reliable, secure, and scalable services. You will work with modern Java technologies, collaborate closely with product and design partners, and continuously improve the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Write automated tests and ensure test coverage with JUnit, Mockito, and TDD practices.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, preferably on Azure DevOps.
• Adopt a DevOps and Agile mindset, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with a cross‑functional team to define, design, and implement new features.
• Incorporate security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in technical interviews.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies, cloud services, and industry trends.

Required profile

• Proven experience building backend solutions, including RESTful APIs, database integration, and messaging services.
• Strong fundamentals in software development: OOP, functional programming, design patterns, concurrency, and test‑driven development.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
• Experience working in Agile teams within multicultural environments.
• Willingness to learn cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and IT risk management.
