Automated Fare Collection System Expert – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) Expert to lead operations and maintenance of our fare collection infrastructure. You will ensure the reliability of ticket vending machines, automatic gates, passenger service terminals, and handheld validators across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor performance of all AFCS hardware and software components.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules and manage emergency repairs.
• Perform component‑level troubleshooting, repair, and testing of fare collection equipment.
• Track KPIs such as system availability, transaction speed, and maintenance response times, and report on system health.
• Maintain data integrity, comply with payment security standards, and ensure seamless bank interface.
• Prepare technical manuals, maintenance reports, SOPs, and training documentation.
• Supervise AFC subcontractors and vendors to meet quality and service requirements.
• Conduct training for operational staff on AFCS use and maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Computer, Electrical, Telecommunications or related).
• 5‑10 years of experience in railway systems, specifically AFCS, signaling or telecommunications.
• Proven experience in operations and maintenance of ticket vending machines, fare gates and backend servers.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, leadership, and vendor‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ticketing technologies such as smart cards, NFC and QR codes.
• Experience with IT infrastructure, networking and revenue‑collection software systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and software documentation.
