Assistant Chief Engineer – Operations

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer – Operations supports the overall management and operation of the Engineering Department at Makati Shangri‑La. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the role is essential for maintaining the hotel’s high standards of safety, reliability and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Support overall management and operation of the Engineering Department under the Director of Engineering.
• Implement hotel policies, procedures and engineering standards.
• Ensure efficient departmental performance and oversee maintenance operations.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and supervise corrective repairs across all hotel facilities.
• Monitor energy consumption and drive sustainability initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Minimum 10 years of engineering practice, preferably in hospitality.
• Proven experience in staff management and budget preparation & control.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce effective systems and procedures.
• Strong leadership qualities and a positive role model for the engineering team.
