Restaurant Accountant with QuickBooks Online Expertise

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented, proactive accountant to join our remote team. You will work alongside experienced bookkeepers and accountants, delivering high‑quality reporting, reconciliations and accounting support for restaurant clients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain all financial records, categorize expenses and manage the general ledger daily in QuickBooks Online.
• Match daily POS sales reports with cash deposits, credit‑card payouts and third‑party delivery app transactions.
• Review, enter and track vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate reconciliations.
• Monitor restaurant‑specific metrics such as food & beverage COGS and labor costs.
• Reconcile bank and credit‑card statements each month and generate basic profit & loss reports for owners/managers.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
• Strong, practical experience using QuickBooks Online.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday, and ability to work as an independent contractor.
• Comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced environment with a growth mindset.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online (QBO) proficiency.
• Experience connecting QBO with restaurant POS systems such as Toast, Clover or Square.
• Solid understanding of restaurant‑specific finances including tips, vendor management and food costs.
