About the role
The Litigation Lawyer will manage legal accounts and matters assigned by senior legal heads, representing the bank and its officers in courts, quasi‑judicial bodies, and governmental agencies. The role focuses on protecting the bank’s interests, recovering past‑due loans, and ensuring contracts are legally sound.
Key responsibilities
- Handle accounts and matters assigned by the Head of the Department or Legal Affairs Division.
- Initiate and file responsive pleadings in regular courts and quasi‑judicial agencies.
- Represent the bank and its officers in hearings, governmental proceedings, and legal actions.
- Assist in the recovery of past‑due loans through demand letters, extra‑judicial foreclosure petitions, writs of possession, and ejectment cases.
- Draft, review, and amend contracts to prevent onerous or illegal provisions and to protect the bank’s liability.
- Provide legal opinions on matters assigned by senior legal leadership after thorough legal research.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with experience handling litigation for banking institutions.
- Proven ability to represent clients before courts, quasi‑judicial agencies, and governmental bodies.
- Experience in loan recovery, foreclosure processes, and contract drafting.
- Strong analytical skills for legal research and opinion writing.
