Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer will ensure that all hotel equipment and engineering areas operate in line with Shangri‑La Hotels & Resorts standards. This on‑site position requires monitoring utilities, managing technicians, and maintaining energy‑management functions while upholding health and safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Check daily utility readings and optimise operational efficiency.
• Ensure engineering staff follow current standards and procedures.
• Conduct shift briefings to communicate operational requirements.
• Supervise technicians in maintaining machinery and record work processes.
• Oversee the energy‑management function and analyse energy costs.
• Promote OH&S compliance and conduct safety spot‑checks.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar engineering role.
• Technical college certificate in Mechanics, Electricity, or an equivalent qualification.
• Good physical health, proper bearing, and neat personal grooming.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organisational abilities.
• Fluency in English (and local language).
