Design Manager

About the role

The Design Manager leads the end‑to‑end design process for construction projects, ensuring that architectural, structural, MEPFS and refrigeration solutions meet project objectives, budgets and regulatory standards. This role acts as the central coordinator between consultants, contractors, internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver complete, constructible design packages on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process from concept through construction documentation.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, specialty consultants and internal departments to align designs with project requirements.
• Review and monitor design deliverables for completeness, constructability and code compliance.
• Develop and track design schedules, ensuring timely submission of milestones and consultant outputs.
• Manage external design consultants, evaluate performance and oversee approvals with government agencies.
• Provide technical support during construction, reviewing shop drawings, material submittals and resolving field design issues.
• Conduct value‑engineering studies and control design costs in partnership with quantity surveyors.
• Facilitate regular design coordination meetings and maintain action‑item logs.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading design teams on construction projects.
• Strong understanding of architectural, structural, MEPFS and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to manage multiple consultants and stakeholders while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Experience in reviewing technical drawings, specifications and conducting value‑engineering.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills to address design conflicts and construction‑stage issues.
