Accounting Manager 1

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) seeks an Accounting Manager 1 to lead accounting activities for its regional delegations. The role ensures accurate financial closing, reporting, and compliance with internal procedures while supervising a team of accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a pool of accountants across multiple regions/delegations.
• Control, validate, and post accounting entries in IRIS, JDE, or PPS.
• Perform cash and bank reconciliations and regular integrity checks of account balances.
• Lead monthly and annual closing processes, including balance‑sheet reconciliation and consolidation.
• Maintain documentation to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
• Design and implement internal control measures to guarantee reliable accounting data.
• Coordinate voucher matching, supply‑chain adjustments, and the List of Accounts for Reconciliation and Confirmation (LARC).

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a multi‑regional environment.
• Leadership skills to manage and develop a team of accountants.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit standards, and compliance procedures.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve accounting anomalies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IRIS accounting software.
• Proficiency with JDE (JD Edwards) accounting system.
• Proficiency with PPS accounting platform.
