Tax Lawyer – Corporate & Regulatory Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Tax Lawyer to provide expert legal advice on tax matters, ensure compliance with Philippine tax laws, and support strategic tax planning. The successful candidate will work closely with finance and business units to mitigate tax risks and drive compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and local business taxes.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with the National Internal Revenue Code, BIR regulations, and related statutes.
• Represent the company before the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Court of Tax Appeals, and other regulatory bodies.
• Advise on tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, investments, and restructuring.
• Lead or support internal audits, manage documentation, and respond to BIR audits and letters of assessment.
• Draft and review position papers, tax rulings, protest letters, and contracts with tax implications.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and recommend appropriate actions.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting, and other units to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Provide training and updates to internal teams on relevant tax matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree.
• Member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in tax law (law firm, government agency, or in‑house).
• Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR processes, and jurisprudence.
• Excellent research, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Experience handling tax audits, rulings, or litigation is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
