Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Vena Energy is looking for a highly experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its Philippines legal team. The role focuses on providing strategic legal guidance for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, and land matters.

Key responsibilities

• Review, negotiate and advise on complex contracts such as EPC, O&M, joint venture, offtake agreements and debt financings.
• Provide expert counsel on legal issues affecting on‑shore and off‑shore wind, mounted and floating solar, battery storage and real‑estate matters.
• Support and manage claims, disputes and investigations arising from construction, business development, land acquisition and offtake agreements.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine laws, renewable‑energy regulations, AML, data‑privacy and anti‑bribery/anti‑corruption frameworks.
• Advise on corporate and commercial matters, including commercial contracts, office leases and employment issues.
• Review, standardise and optimise legal document templates.
• Conduct in‑depth legal research to support business needs.
• Assist regional APAC legal matters as required.
• Supervise and mentor 1–2 junior lawyers.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).
• Minimum 15 years of practising law.
• At least 5 years of experience in the energy sector, preferably renewable energy, or as a general counsel managing multiple projects.
• Strong expertise in business development, construction‑related legal matters and dispute resolution.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication abilities.
• Proven experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
