Senior Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead structural and geotechnical design activities for large‑scale marine and infrastructure projects. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure design quality, and support project delivery from concept to construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all structural and geotechnical design, review contractor submissions, and endorse internal quality control.
• Coordinate design tasks with construction management, project control, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage a team of Design Engineers, providing guidance and oversight.
• Prepare and approve design‑related correspondence and instrumentation letters.
• Deliver engineering services for revetments, shoreline protection, ports, and harbour structures, including soil investigation and laboratory work.
• Design soil improvement, stability, and coastal protection works across concrete and steel materials.
• Ensure designs comply with SMEC Design Process Plan, British Standards, ASTM, and Philippine standards.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and government authorities to capture and address requirements.
• Review and approve design reports, specifications, and tender documents.
• Support tender preparation and project pursuit activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on large‑scale infrastructure or reclamation projects.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate design activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Team player, self‑motivated, disciplined and resourceful.
• Experience in contract administration is a plus.
